Recent Canadian Investigative News Series Highlights Lack of Safety at Airports
The Fifth Estate, a CBC documentary program (sort of the Cdn version of 60 minutes but a little different - they are funded publicly so tend to be a little more aggressive) aired a show recently of the lack of safety - eveb post 9/11 in our skies. An expert attempted to get past a lead covered device that could have been a bomb. Only one screener caught it!! He found similar results in the U.S.

This is very scary!!

Here is the url for the program:

It may be shown again and if anyone wants it, I will videotape it.

If anyone thinks air travel is safe from things like bombs and hijackings they're kidding themselves, if you've ever seen that movie Class Action it illustrates the cold mathematics of it so well. The airlines and airport authorities take the costs of putting in proper screeners and technology in every airport vs the costs of paying the relatives of those killed in a hijacking or bombing. And when they see it'll cost less to pay the familes they don't install proper screening. Sickening for you or I to comprehend but it is true.

The same goes for port security, do you have any idea how easy it would be to smuggle a nuclear device into the United States? I can't remember the number but some rediculously low number like 3% of the containers that come in to ports are screened. That's 97% of millions of containers that could have a nuclear device in them, and no one would ever know, until it was too late.
