A Northwest Airlines plane made an emergency landing at Tokyo's Narita airport today after a fire scare, airport authorities said.

The pilot reported smelling smoke in the cockpit.

The aircraft, which was on a flight from San Francisco to Tokyo, landed safely at Narita and no injuries were reported.
