15 dead as jet crashes in Tunis May 7, 2002 Posted: 1:13 PM EDT (1713 GMT) TUNIS, Tunisia (CNN) -- At least 15 people have died after an Egyptian airliner with 60 people on board crash landed near the Tunisian capital of Tunis. At least 27 people were also injured after the pilot of the Boeing 737-500 attempted to make an emergency landing near Tunis-Carthage airport. The plane's landing gear had failed to open during the approach into Tunis airport and the pilot had made another circuit before attempting a fresh landing when the plane crashed, airport officials said. The aircraft was resting on a hill in the area of a park about six kilometres (four miles) from the airport, and black smoke was rising from the site, The Associated Press reported. The NTSB issued a press release saying they are sending a team to Tunisia to assist. The release did not say on whose invitation it was. EgyptAir and the NTSB....here we go again! "They shall mount up with wings, as eagles." Isaiah 40:31 | ||||
