M�hlemann has withdrawn from the troubled Argentinian bank [Keystone Archive]


Argentina’s scandal-ridden Banco General de Negocios has accepted the resignation of its board member and Cr�dit Suisse Group chief Lukas M�hlemann.

M�hlemann, who is CSG chairman, tendered his resignation from the troubled bank in January.

CS spokeswoman Claudia Kraaz confirmed that shareholders of the Argentinean bank had accepted his resignation at its annual general meeting.

The Banco General de Negocios is a partner bank of Cr�dit Suisse, and was accused earlier this year of breaching laws blocking bank accounts ordered by former Argentinean president Fernando de la Rua.

The bank also faces investigation for money laundering and allegedly helping rich clients remove their money out of the country illegally.

M�hlemann’s resignation from the bank's board could not be recognised until the AGM.
