Passenger plane crashes near Luxembourg airport Last Updated Wed, 06 Nov 2002 12:47:45 LUXEMBOURG - A twin-engine plane crashed in fog while coming in for a landing at a Luxembourg airport early Wednesday, said police. There were 22 people on board and reports say 20 of them died, either in the crash or from their injuries in hospital. The pilot and one of the passengers are still alive. Most of the people on board were Germans. The Luxair turboprop Fokker-50 was arriving from Berlin's Tempelhof airport when it smashed into a farmer's field about 10 kilometres from the airport. The crash occurred at 10 a.m. local time. The airport was immediately shut down and incoming flights diverted to nearby airports.
