Second helicopter crash in four days off Manhattan NEW YORK (AP) "” A helicopter crashed Friday afternoon in the East River just blocks south of the United Nations "” the second helicopter accident in four days in the waters off Manhattan, authorities said. Six people were aboard when the helicopter went down around 3:40 p.m., police said. Preliminary reports were that all those aboard escaped the aircraft and were accounted for, authorities said. There were no immediate reports of injuries. But three of the victims were loaded onto gurneys and taken away by rescue workers and divers were spotted plunging into the river as traffic rolled past on an adjacent highway. The Federal Aviation Administration did not immediately return a call for comment. On Tuesday, another helicopter crashed into the river shortly after takeoff for a sightseeing flight. Six tourists and the pilot were hospitalized.
